1975 Mustang II
The 1975 Mustang II
was hardly changed. The grille got a larger eggcrate-type mesh, which was now practically flush with the grille opening, and the Ghia model came with opera windows to enhance its luxury image.
The 2.3L four-cylinder was still standard equipment, with the 2.9L V-6 optional, again available only with a four-speed manual. The 302 ci V-8 rated at 140 hp became optional on all Mustangs.
The Ghia Luxury Group, optional on the Ghia, included silver metallic paint, a half vinyl roof in Silver Normande grain, full-lenth bodyside tape stripes, stand-up hood ornament, media velour cloth trim in cranberry, console, flocked headlining and sun visor.

The Ghia Luxury Group, optional on the Ghia, included silver metallic paint, a half vinyl roof in Silver Normande grain, full-lenth bodyside tape stripes, stand-up hood ornament, media velour cloth trim in cranberry, console, flocked headlining and sun visor.
Here was also the regular Luxury Interior Group (standard on the Ghia) which included a choice of vinyl or cloth and vinyl seat trim, deluxe door and rear seat quarter trim, door courtesy lights, color-keyed deluxe belts on hardtops, shag carpeting, rear ashtray, parking brake boot and, as Ford called it, a super sound package.
Two sunroofs were available, the silver glass moonroof and the regular version, both manually controlled.
The Rallye Package, available only with the 2.8L V-6 or the 302 V-8, tightened the chassis up a bit for better handling. It included the Traction-Lok differential, 195/70 BWL tires, extra cooling package, exhaust with bright tips, digital clock (hardtops), the Competition Suspension, remote control outside color-keyed mirrors, leather-wrapped steering wheel and styled steel wheels with trim rings.
The Competition Suspension, available by itself, included heavy-duty springs, Gabriel adjustable shocks, a rear stabilizer bar and 195/70×13 B/WL tires.
From the performance point of view, the availability of the 302 ci V-8 helped give the Mustang II a much needed shot in the arm. Available only with the three-speed automatic transmission, mandatory options were power brakes and steering. California-bound 302s got catalytic converters and all Mustang engines benefited from electronic ignition
Steel-belted radial tires were now standard equipment.
New wheels became available. These were a cast aluminum spoke-type wheel. The styled steel and forged aluminum wheels were also available.
Late in the model year, an MPG version of the Mustang II was made available. Using the 2.3L four-cyliner engine and a lower numerical rear axle ratio, 3.18:1 vs 3.40:1, the MPG Mustang was designed to deliver better mileage. New lows were reached in terms of acceleration
